At the age of 16, Coach Leo earned a spot with Nacional de São Paulo and began his professional journey. He played professionally in Brazil until 2007 with clubs such as Ferroviária and Elosport. He holds a degree in Physical Education and has worked in Mexico. In 2014, he launched a youth soccer project in Brazil. Coach Leo still currently competes and most recently competed in the 2025 Seniors World Cup in Thailand.
